Mankato Family YMCA Celebrates National Senior Health & Fitness Day on May 28
The Mankato Family YMCA invites the community to celebrate National Senior Health & Fitness Day on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with a morning of wellness, fun, and movement. The event runs from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM and is free and open to the public.
This celebration highlights the importance of active aging and offers older adults a variety of fitness classes, wellness activities, educational clinics, and opportunities to connect — all in one place.
Participants can enjoy:
- A 1-Mile Walk/Run on the Red Jacket Trail
- Group fitness classes including Water Interval, Cycling, Low Impact HIIT, Tai Chi, and more
- Open Pickleball courts
- A foot clinic with the Public Health Nursing Program at Rasmussen College
- A nutrition Q&A and make-your-own energy balls, with Emma Smith, MSU Dietetics Program
- A special keynote presentation by Dawn Zollars from Building Resilience at 11:30 AM
Guests can check in at the front desk and will receive an activity card. Those who participate in at least five activities will earn a prize.
“This is the first time we’re hosting this event, but we’re excited.” said Michelle Cords, ForeverWell Coordinator at the Mankato YMCA. “It’s a day focused on celebrating healthy aging, encouraging movement, and fostering community among our Active Older Adults.”
The event is also an invitation to non-YMCA members to come and get a glimpse of the ForeverWell program. ForeverWell at the Y has activities throughout each month for Active Older Adults that promote a healthy lifestyle, social well-being and alleviate boredom and isolation.
No registration is required for the events on National Senior Health & Fitness Day. Simply show up, check in, and enjoy a morning of movement, wellness, and connection.
