Mankato Man Charged with Multiple Counts of Domestic Assault

A Mankato man was charged with multiple counts of Felony Domestic Assault after an argument escalated. The incident occurred on Friday, January 17th. Jarmel Cortez Brown was charged in Blue Earth County District Court Tuesday with the following counts:

2 counts Domestic Assault, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 5 years or a $10,000 fine, or both.

Domestic Assault By Strangulation, a Felony with a Maximum Sentence of 3 years or a $5,000 fine, or both.

According to the criminal complaint: On January 17, 2025, officers of the Mankato Department of Public Safety responded to a residence in Mankato, Minnesota, Blue Earth County, report of a domestic incident. It was reported that Jarmel Cortez Brown had assaulted his wife. Officers arrived and made contact with the victim. The victim stated that Brown arrived at the residence drunk and an argument ensued.

Brown has two prior domestic assault convictions in 2018
