Mankato Schools Provide Safety Update
At around 12 p.m., an emergency medical situation occurred in the parking lot off of Pleasant Street near West. The incident involved one student, was isolated to the overflow parking lot, and resulted in emergency medical services and Mankato Public Safety being called. The school was on a soft lockdown (no one was allowed to enter or exit the school, but classes continued) so public safety and medical personnel could provide medical services. The soft lockdown ended once the area was cleared at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Throughout the medical situation, school officials worked with Mankato Public Safety to attend to the safety and security of West students and staff. We appreciate their partnership and support.
There are no additional public details regarding today’s incident, and we ask the community to refrain from speculation, and to respect the privacy of the individual involved.
