Maximum state assistance to households for emergency fuel deliveries more than doubles this winter

Officials have more than doubled — from 600 dollars up to 15-hundred — the  maximum amount of state assistance households can receive this winter for emergency fuel deliveries.  Energy Assistance Program Director Michael Schmitz says:

“We’re able to do this in part because there was an additional one billion dollars… that Congress appropriated in September, so Minnesota got an extra about 20 million dollars out of that.”

Schmitz says in the past few years, the average annual cost of heating a home with oil has risen to nearly three thousand dollars, and 19-hundred for propane. Since the current season began October 1st, nearly 36-thousand households have received an average of 561 dollars in assistance.  For more information, visit mn.gov/home.
