Minnesota State Volleyball picked to finish 9th in NSIC Coach’s Poll

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota State volleyball team has been picked to finish ninth in the 2025 NSIC Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

MSU received a total of 123 points to secure the ninth spot in the rankings. St. Cloud State topped the list with eight first-place votes and 212 points, with Concordia-St. Paul following in second with 208 points and four first-place votes. Southwest Minnesota State came in third with four first-place votes and 202 points.

Sophomore right side hitter Avery Klein was named MSU’s Player to Watch. Last season, Klein recorded 263 kills for an average of 2.68 kills per set. She also notched 169 digs and recorded 49 total blocks as she was named to the All-NSIC First Team. The Mavericks finished their 2024 campaign with an 18-9 overall record (10-8 NSIC) and made an apperance in the NSIC Tournament in November under head coach Corey Phelps.

Minnesota State begins its season at the Missouri S&T Tournament in Rolla, Mo. MSU opens the tournament on Sept. 4 as it takes on Missouri S&T at 6:00 p.m.
