(St. Paul, MN)  —  The state House is advancing a bill that would provide legal protections for those targeted by another state for legal abortions performed in Minnesota.  The Reproductive Freedom Defense Act passed yesterday and anticipates that other states will go after patients who travel to Minnesota for abortions.  The bill would strengthen medical record privacy, keeping authorities in other states from being able to subpoena abortion clinic patient records.  The governor and law enforcement agencies would also be barred from cooperating with officials from other states seeking legal action stemming from legal abortions performed in Minnesota.  The bill passed mainly along party lines, with all but one Democrat supporting the measure.
