Roughly 18-percent of eligible Minnesota voters turned out and voted in Tuesday’s primary election. Which isn’t too bad, says Secretary of State Steve Simon…

“So much of the turnout is focused year after year after year on whether or not and to what extent there are contests that are close contests that are interesting that are getting a lot of attention when there are a lot of those turnout tends to be high when they’re not so many turnout tends to be low.”

Simon says 18-percent may seem like a low number, but typically but primary voter turnout is “much, much lower than general elections.”
