MN Senate Commerce Chair Predicts Bipartisan Passage of Sports Betting Bill
The new chair of the Minnesota Senate Commerce Committee believes a bill legalizing sports betting will pass this session. Senator Matt Klein of Mendota Heights says he doesn’t have the 34 votes yet:
“I’m very optimistic that we can do that. It likely will be a bipartisan vote. I think there is support in most communities across the state of Minnesota for this. And now that people have seen the language, I think that they can react in a more serious to what we’ve actually introduced. So I wouldn’t count us out.”
The legislation would allow Minnesotans to wager on sports at the tribal casinos or on a mobile app. A Republican proposal would also include the state’s two horse racing tracks.
