New Richland Disaster Response Fund Established to Support Flood Recovery Efforts
In response to the recent flash flooding that impacted residents, businesses and community infrastructure in New Richland, the New Richland Area Foundation, Waseca Area Foundation and Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF) have partnered to establish the New Richland Disaster Response Fund.
The fund will provide support for community and business recovery needs as New Richland works to recover and rebuild following the devastating flooding event. Donations will help address immediate recovery efforts, ensuring resources are available where they are most needed.
Community members, businesses and organizations wishing to contribute to recovery efforts can make donations at www.wasecaareafoundation.org.
“New Richland has always been a resilient community, and we know our residents, businesses and organizations will come together to support one another during this challenging time,” said Karla Christopherson, chair of the New Richland Area Foundation and Waseca Area Foundation. “The New Richland Disaster Response Fund provides an opportunity for people near and far to invest directly in our community’s recovery and help ensure we emerge stronger from this disaster.”
The New Richland Disaster Response Fund will serve as a centralized resource for charitable contributions dedicated to recovery efforts. Partners will work closely with local leaders and community organizations to identify and address priority needs as recovery efforts continue.
“We are seeing individuals in need of emergency shelter and food, businesses requiring critical equipment to re-open, and uninsured business owners and homeowners unable to cover damage costs. Insurance claims and government support can take months to arrive, leaving households and small businesses in a lurch,” said Amy Potter, director of the Waseca Area Foundation. This fund allows us to mobilize support immediately, sending a critical lifeline to those who need it most.”
“The impact of natural disasters can extend far beyond the initial event, affecting businesses, families and community institutions for months or even years,” said Benya Kraus, President and CEO of Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. “We are proud to partner with the New Richland Area Foundation and Waseca Area Foundation to create a fund that will help mobilize support and provide resources to aid New Richland’s recovery.”
The three organizations encourage individuals, businesses and philanthropic partners throughout the region to consider making a contribution to support New Richland’s recovery.
