North Mankato Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Two Teens Arrested
On November 3rd, 2022, at 7:31 a.m. officers from the North Mankato Police Department were informed that a stolen vehicle from the City of Owatonna was being tracked by GPS traveling southbound on US Hwy 169 towards Mankato/North Mankato. Officers eventually were advised that the last GPS track placed the vehicle in the vicinity of the Kwik Trip on North River Dr. in the City of Mankato.
A North Mankato officer and a MNRVDTF agent located the vehicle parked at the gas pumps with two (2) male occupants inside. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver fled in reverse and crashed into a parked car. Both occupants then fled the car on foot and were captured a short time later without incident.
The driver, a 14-year–old male from Owatonna was arrested for felony fleeing, receiving stolen property, and fleeing on foot. The passenger, a 16–year-old male from Duluth, was arrested for fleeing on foot, an outstanding warrant for theft, and was a runaway from the City of Duluth.
No injuries were reported. North Mankato Police were assisted by the MN State Patrol, Nicollet County Sheriff, and Mankato Police.
