North Mankato Police Respond to Subject Waving Knife at Traffic Monday
On Monday, October 20th, 2025 at 9:53am North Mankato Police received several 911 calls of a male subject seen walking in the area of Lor Ray Drive and Commerce Drive waving a large butcher knife at passing motorists.
Officers immediately responded to the area and found the subject, still carrying the knife, walking along Commerce Drive west of Lor Ray Drive. Officers made contact with the subject who refused multiple commands to stop and put the knife down, and continued walking towards populated parking lot areas.
Officers deployed a TASER and were able to safely take the subject into custody. A butcher knife with an 8inch blade was recovered. A 22-year–old North Mankato man was subsequently transported to MCHS Mankato for a mental health evaluation.
The case remains under investigation.
