The firearms deer season is two weeks away and a big annual event is the 2022 Minnesota Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener.  Minnesota Deer Hunters Association president Denis Quarberg says Governor Walz and 125 hunters will be at the Elm Creek Park Reserve in the Dayton area on November 5th:

“Well I think is our 20th year now I don’t know if this is the 20th event or if it’s the 18th event due to the fact that we didn’t have anything for the last two years because of COVID. And so this is kind of a work back into it.”

Quarberg says planning for the governor’s opener kicked into high gear the past couple weeks.  The Minnesota D-N-R is expecting to sell more than 400 thousand deer hunting licenses this year.
