The University of Minnesota Extension Pesticide Safety and Environmental Education (PSEE) program is offering field days for pesticide applicator recertification. This class will offer outdoor, hands-on recertification training for both private and commercial/noncommercial (CNC) pesticide applicators. Private pesticide applicators who need to recertify in 2026 can attend a field day this summer, eliminating the need to attend a workshop or take the exam in January or February 2026.

There will be a variety of pesticide safety and application topic demonstrations and hands-on activities in a field day setting, including:

  • In-field demonstration plots
  • Nozzle selection and application techniques
  • Drift management
  • Mixing, loading, and container cleaning
  • Integrated pest management
  • Pest identification and management tools
  • Drone application demonstration
  • Seed treatment demonstrations and safety

Class cost is $100 for private pesticide applicators, $145 for CNC applicators with categories A & C, and $190 for CNC applicators with categories A, C, & H. These workshops will be held at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center, Lamberton on July 15 and the Southern Research and Outreach Center, Waseca on August 12 starting at 7:30 a.m. CNC applicators can register at z.umn.edu/pseeachworkshops. Private applicators can register at z.umn.edu/ppatfielddays.
