Snowmobile and ATV Crashes Up This Winter

Ideal snow conditions have led to an uptick in snowmobile and ATV crashes and fatalities across the state. The DNR’s Lisa Dugan says in many of these accidents speed has been a top contributing factor:

“To take into consideration not just posted speed on the trails but also where they’re riding what the conditions might be whether it’s on a lake or on a trail and then also taking into consideration the rider’s experience so it’s still very important to always ride within your riding ability.”

Dugan says impaired driving is also playing a role in a number of these crashes.
