Spectrum Hosts Smart Device Training for Seniors Session Thursday
Spectrum hosted a senior smart device training for seniors in partnership with VINE Adult Community Center in Mankato on Thursday.
Smart Device Training for Seniors is a program aimed at empowering older adults through technology, focusing on enhancing digital literacy and fostering a sense of community among seniors by providing them with the skills and tools to navigate the digital world confidently.
“I regularly hear from our members that they are ready and eager to learn, but they simply need access to devices and a patient teacher who can answer questions without judgment,” said Meghan Velasquez, VINE Program Coordinator. “With the right support, smart devices become less intimidating and more empowering, helping seniors stay curious, connected, confident and open to the possibilities of a changing world.”
Smart Device Training for Seniors sessions are hands-on classes for individuals 65 or older to help them understand technology to better connect with others. The course includes training on cybersecurity basics, phone and tablet apps and more.
“Technology is a powerful equalizer, but only if people have access to devices and then know how to use them,” said Matt Brown, Area Vice President for Spectrum’s Minnesota service territory. “Through digital training, we’re helping our customers turn connectivity into real opportunities for their communities, from education and employment to everyday connection and independence.”
