Three More Charged in Connection with North Mankato Homicide Investigation

Three additional people have been charged in connection with the May 23rd shooting death of Tyson Goodsell in North Mankato during what prosecutors allege was a planned robbery involving THC cartridges. Nicollet County prosecutors filed felony charges Monday against 53-year-old Christa Marie Wolner of Mankato, 18-year-old Jaxon Richard Sageng of Mankato, and 18-year-old Devon Bruce Bakke of St. Peter.

According to criminal complaints, investigators allege Ryan Wolner orchestrated a plan to rob the victim during what appeared to be a legitimate sale of approximately $3,000 worth of THC cartridges. Prosecutors allege Sageng agreed to arrange the meeting by contacting the victim, setting up the purchase, and allowing Ryan Wolner to use both his cellphone and his silver Chevrolet Impala so the victim would believe he was meeting Sageng. The complaint alleges Sageng agreed to participate in exchange for $100. Investigators say the robbery ended when Abdikhadar Fakhi Mohidin allegedly shot and killed Goodsell. Sageng is charged with aiding and abetting attempted first-degree aggravated robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree aggravated robbery.

Devon Bakke faces six felony charges, including aiding an offender, conspiracy, and aiding and abetting attempted aggravated robbery. According to prosecutors, Bakke stored Ryan Wolner’s AR-style rifle at his St. Peter residence before the shooting and told investigators Wolner retrieved the rifle on the night of May 23, saying he intended to rob the victim. The complaint alleges Bakke later drove Ryan Wolner and another suspect back to Mankato after the shooting, witnessed Ryan Wolner throw two cellphones from the vehicle along Highway 169, and later delivered the rifle back to Ryan Wolner at the Wolner family cabin.

Ryan Wolner’s mother, Christa Marie Wolner, has been charged with four felony counts of aiding an offender. Prosecutors allege she helped Ryan Wolner avoid arrest and obstructed the investigation by picking him up after the shooting, driving him to search for discarded cellphones, allowing him to use her cellphone to communicate with co-defendants, and helping conceal evidence connected to the case. The complaint also alleges she transferred money that investigators say helped two suspects obtain a hotel room, permitted evidence to be stored at her cabin, and later attempted to dispose of a firearm conversion switch after receiving coded instructions during recorded jail phone calls.

Ryan Wolner and several other co-defendants have already been charged in connection with the homicide. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
