Governor Tim Walz speaks at a State Capitol rally today (Tues) as advocates push for paid family and medical leave in Minnesota — one of Democrats’ signature initiatives for the 2023 session but which faces significant opposition from the business community:
(The governor also addresses Minnesota Farm Bureau members on their lobby day (11am) , before a key House committee this afternoon (1pm) discusses a major agriculture budget bill. Members of the Minnesota Nurses Association are at the Capitol today, testifying at a hearing on a bill concerning the proposed Fairview/Sanford merger (1030am) and one that would give nurses more control over staffing decisions at hospitals (1pm). Governor Walz does a ceremonial signing to spotlight a bill designed to crack down on catalytic converter thefts in Minnesota. And there’s a hearing this evening, after two officials were removed amid reports of a hostile work environment which jeopardized care at the state veterans home in Hastings.
