Today at the Minnesota Capitol
There are hearings today (Mon) in both the Minnesota House (1pm) and Senate (3pm) on legalizing recreational marijuana. The bill cleared a Senate committee last week following testimony by former Governor Jesse Ventura:
“I had to break the law. My friends had to send it to me.”
Ventura said in desperation they tried cannabis, after prescribed treatments didn’t eliminate his wife’s seizures:
“My wife took the first three drops under the tongue, and has not had a seizure since. None.”
Medical marijuana has since been legalized in Minnesota — and Ventura urged lawmakers to also allow recreational use. Opponents warn it’s a gateway drug that will make Minnesota’s roads and workplaces less safe.
