U.S. Department of Homeland Security provides notification of presence in Mankato

Mankato Public Safety has been notified that agents with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) are working in Mankato. These agents have presented valid law enforcement credentials.

Mankato Public Safety is not aware of the specific nature of their activities and is not participating in or assisting with any operation. Public Safety is also not aware of the scope of any potential investigation or how long DHS will be in Mankato.

Those who have questions regarding the authority of individuals claiming to be law enforcement are encouraged to contact 911 to verify their identity.

Since this is a Homeland Security matter, media need to contact DHS with questions. The City of Mankato has no additional information.
