A storm system is expected to bring rain across Minnesota on Valentine’s Day before it changes over to snow late Tuesday.  Jacob Beitlich with the National Weather Service says parts of west central and northwest Minnesota will be under a winter storm watch:

“And it’s not so much for the snowfall amounts. It’s kind of the impact potential because we know the winds are going to be strong. We know that we’re going to have falling temperatures and rain changing over to snow.  But it all depends on when it changes over.”

Beitlich says winds will be gusting 40 to 50 miles an hour in the watch area, making driving conditions difficult.  The Twin Cities and southern Minnesota are only expected to get an inch or less of snow.
