Last July, the VINE Adult Community Center (VACC) announced it would be undergoing major improvements, including a parking lot expansion and renovations to improve accessibility of the building and add more space for older adults to exercise and socialize. The work is made possible by the extraordinary generosity of a local angel donor couple, whose gift is bringing long-envisioned improvements to life at VINE.

On Tuesday, May 13 at 11 a.m. VINE will begin construction with a Groundbreaking Ceremony in their parking lot.

Itinerary for Groundbreaking Ceremony

  • Project Overview and History: Melinda Wedzina, VINE
  • Donor Statement: Angel donors to be revealed at the Groundbreaking Ceremony
  • Construction and Design Team Recognition: Jess Blais, APX Construction
  • Community Impact: Susan Artnz and Mayor Najwa Massad, City of Mankato
  • Certificate Presentation: Greater Mankato Growth Ambassadors

Construction will proceed in phases. Initial work will focus on the east parking lot and interior improvements to the women’s locker room and the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th floors. The second phase will address the west side parking lot and first floor, including the co-ed changing room, redesigned lobby, and fitness center.

The VACC will remain open throughout the renovation. Members can continue to enjoy fitness classes, educational presentations, social gatherings and more. The full project is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with updated spaces opening as they are finished.
