Walters Man Dies in Tractor Rollover Tuesday
On 09/01/2026, at approximately 12:44pm, the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office Received a 911 call regarding a single farm tractor rollover near the intersection of 570th Avenue and 108th Street in rural Wells, MN.
The Oliver 770 tractor was being operated by Timothy Glen Steinborn, a 48-year-old male of Walters, MN. The tractor was also occupied by two juvenile males (an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old).
Upon arrival, emergency responders found all three occupants trapped beneath the tractor. Emergency responders worked to extricate all three occupants from beneath the vehicle.
The 10 year old juvenile was assessed at the scene and transported by Wells Community Ambulance to a local hospital. The juvenile was then airlifted from the local hospital to Mayo Clinic Health System (MCHS) – St. Mary’s in Rochester, MN by North Memorial Air Care.
The 8 year old juvenile was assessed at the scene by Kiester Ambulance and airlifted from the scene to MCHS – St. Mary’s by Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance.
Both Juveniles suffered suspected serious injuries from the rollover.
Steinborn was declared deceased at the scene.
Based on the current investigation, it is believed that the tractor entered the steep east ditch at an incorrect angle, causing it to rollover.
Assisting at the scene were the Wells Police Department, Wells Fire Department, Wells Community Ambulance, Kiester Ambulance, Walters Fire Department, Walters First Responders, Mayo Clinic Air Ambulance, North Memorial Air Care, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash remains under investigation by the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Minnesota State Patrol.
