Walz to sign undocumented immigrant drivers license bill

It’s expected Governor Tim Walz will sign a bill this week allowing undocumented residents to obtain a drivers license in Minnesota.  Republicans warn it opens the door to all kinds of abuse — even terrorists getting Minnesota I-Ds:

“Why are we giving the identical license that we as legal citizens have, to people who are here illegally?”

…Faribault Senator John Jasinski.  Democrats respond immigrants are here to better their lives, not break the law, and Minnesota roads will be safer if they’ve taken the driving test and have insurance:

“This is a drivers license — not a voting card, not a benefits card, but a well-earned drivers license.”
