A national organization aimed to help people with life-threatening blood cancers is hoping to grow its donor pool. For over 30 years, Be The Match has managed the most diverse marrow registry in the world to help save lives through transplants. CentraCare’s Dr. Robert Jacobs joined the Be The Match registry 10 years ago in medical school. He says he got the call last year:

“I was called in December of last year. It was kind of crazy because I hadn’t thought about being on the registry for probably about 10 years. And so they contacted me and then we started the process of making sure that I was healthy enough to be a donor.”

Jacobs was able to donate his bone marrow roughly four months later. He says he hopes his story inspires others to become a bone marrow donor.
