Mankato Area Public Schools Students Outperform State in 2025 MCAs; Attendance Continues Upward Trend
Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) students once again outperformed the state in the 2025 Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) for mathematics and reading. District-wide, 55% of MAPS students met or exceeded standards in math (state average: 45.2%) and 54.4% met or exceeded standards in reading (state average: 49.6%).
MAPS’ accountability data also shows encouraging momentum in consistent attendance. In the 2023–24 school year, 72.17% of MAPS students attended at least 90% of enrolled days—up from 68.9% the prior year. While the district remains below the statewide rate of 75.5%, the positive trend reflects focused efforts across schools and in partnership with families.
“These results reflect the steady, day-to-day work in our classrooms to help every student grow,” said Travis Olson, Director of Teaching and Learning at Mankato Area Public Schools. “We’re proud to be above the state in both math and reading, and we’re encouraged by our rising attendance as we continue to remove barriers to learning.”
