South Central College Launching New Respiratory Therapy Program
South Central College (SCC) will introduce a new respiratory therapy program this fall at the college’s North Mankato Campus.
Respiratory therapists are specialized healthcare professionals who contribute to the assessment, treatment, management and rehabilitation of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. South Central College’s health sciences division designed the new respiratory therapy program in collaboration with industry experts.
“We are excited to offer this program to help address a growing need in our community,” said SCC Dean of Health Sciences Elizabeth Thompson. “Respiratory therapists play a vital role in patient care, and this program will prepare graduates for rewarding careers in hospitals, diagnostic labs, clinics and home healthcare.”
The launch of the new respiratory therapy program this fall follows the introduction of a surgical technology program last fall. In total, SCC now has 12 health sciences programs, with other programs including medical assisting, dental assisting, emergency medical services, paramedic technician, health unit coordinator, medical laboratory technician, phlebotomy, nursing practical (LPN) nursing professional (RN) and nursing assistant (CNA/HHA).
South Central College is currently accepting applications for fall admission. More information on the respiratory therapy program is available at www.southcentral.edu/respiratory.
