Community Open House on October 12 offers an inside look at newly completed spaces and the next phase of the Mankato West transformation
Mankato Area Public Schools invites students, families, alumni and community members to see the transformation underway at Mankato West High School during a Community Open House on Monday, October 12, from 10 a.m. to noon and 6 to 8 p.m.
With approximately two-thirds of the construction project now complete, the open house will give visitors an opportunity to walk through newly completed and updated areas of the school and see firsthand how the voter-approved 2023 bond investment is taking shape.
While significant progress has been made, the transformation is not finished yet. Work is continuing on the former gymnasium, which is being reimagined as dedicated spaces for Mankato West’s choir, band and orchestra programs.
“This is an exciting point in the project because our community can really begin to see how these investments are changing the experience for students and staff at Mankato West,” said Principal Sherri Blasing. “We are excited to open our doors, share the progress and give our community a look at both what has been completed and what is still to come.”
Visitors will be able to see updated learning spaces, the school’s new secure entrance and office areas, physical education and athletic spaces, and other improvements throughout the building.
Guided tours will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Community members who are unable to attend a guided tour are welcome to stop by anytime during either open house window and explore the school through a self-guided tour.
