Apple Valley Driver Sustains Minor Injuries in Sibley County Crash Sunday

On August 2nd, 2026 at 5:13 AM, Sibley County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported vehicle in the ditch to the north of the curves on 256th Street (CR 10) and west of 491st Avenue, in Dryden Township. Deputies learned that Jon Hocum (61), of Apple Valley was the driver of a 2003 BMW Z4, when he was traveling eastbound on 256th Street, before leaving the roadway and coming to a stop, after striking a power pole. The BMW Z4 sustained heavy disabling frontend damage with front airbag deployment. Hocum reported minor injuries and he was the only occupant inside the vehicle, at the time of the crash.
