Blue Earth County is hosting a public open house on Tuesday, March 10, from 4-6 PM.  The new facility is located at 19505 Stoltzman Road, Mankato, MN at the intersection of County Road 16 (Stoltzman Road) and County Road 90. The open house will include self-guided tours, staff availability, and light refreshments.

The relocation marks a significant upgrade from the County’s previous Public Works facility which had reached the end of its useful life.

“The County started researching this project in 2019,” stated Bob Meyer, County Administrator. “Throughout this process, the County’s focus has remained on meeting the community’s service area needs while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.

The facility includes expanded space for vehicle and equipment storage, maintenance of road and parks equipment, and office space for clerical, engineering, and operational staff. The main office building, a modern, 90,000-square-foot building, was designed to support the County’s long-term infrastructure needs and improve efficiency in delivering essential services to residents.

“With support from Congressionally Directed Spending, the County was able to make meaningful sustainability investments on this community asset for years to come,” stated Board Chair Patty O’Connor.

As part of the Congressionally Directed Spending project, the Public Works facility features LED lighting, electric vehicle charging stations, advanced HVAC control upgrades, and rooftop solar designed for near net-zero electric energy use.
