City Center Partnership Announces Rebrand to Downtown Partnership of Mankato/North Mankato, Signaling Enhanced Focus
The City Center Partnership, a dedicated business unit of Greater Mankato Growth, Inc. (GMG Inc.), today announced a strategic rebrand and name change to Downtown Partnership of Mankato/North Mankato. This evolution reflects a new geographic focus and a renewed commitment to fostering vibrant and thriving downtown districts across both cities. The new branding, mission, vision, and enhanced programming will begin rolling out later this month.
For years, the City Center Partnership has been instrumental in the revitalization efforts of downtown Mankato, operating as a Main Street America Accredited organization and a key implementer of the City Center Renaissance Plan. The decision to rebrand to the Downtown Partnership of Mankato/North Mankato acknowledges the interconnectedness and shared potential of both downtowns, aiming to create a more cohesive and impactful regional downtown experience.
“As we embark on an exciting new chapter, the work of the new Downtown Partnership of Mankato/North Mankato will make the focus on our downtown area more significant than ever,” said Jessica Potter, Executive Director of the Blue Earth County Historical Society and Downtown Partnership Organization Committee member. “Downtown is not just a collection of buildings and streets; it is the heartbeat of a healthy community. It is where businesses thrive, culture flourishes, and people come together to create a vibrant atmosphere.”
The Downtown Partnership of Mankato/North Mankato will continue to champion the principles of the Main Street America Four-Point Approach for downtown development, servicing the four key areas of Belgrade Avenue, Old Town, City Center, and South Front Street. The Main Street Approach is rooted in a commitment to broad-based community engagement, a holistic understanding of the factors that impact the quality of life in a community, and strategic focus on the core principles of downtown revitalization:
- Economic Vitality: Focusing on economic development and business growth
- Promotion: Marketing and promoting each district
- Design: Enhancing the physical appearance of the downtown area
- Organization: Building strong partnerships and community support
“As a business owner in the Old Town neighborhood, I’ve witnessed firsthand the excellent work accomplished by the City Center Partnership,” said Joe Huber, co-owner of The Dork Den in Old Town Mankato. “I’m excited to contribute to the new vision of the newly renamed Downtown Partnership, helping make the downtown neighborhoods of Mankato and North Mankato welcoming places to spend time and helping them flourish for years to come.”
The Downtown Partnership of Mankato/North Mankato looks forward to working closely with businesses, residents, property owners, and civic leaders in both communities to unlock the full potential of these vital urban cores. Further details regarding specific programming and engagement opportunities will be announced in the coming weeks.
