City of North Mankato Declaring Snow Emergency on Sunday March 15th
The City of North Mankato is declaring a citywide snow emergency effective at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15. During the snow emergency there is no parking on city streets so snow can be removed quickly and efficiently. City Code 71.06 allows for the declaration of a 24-hour snow emergency in the city. Any vehicles parked on city streets during the snow emergency are subject to ticket and may be towed at the owner’s expense.
Residents may resume parking on city streets at 12:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2026, or when the snow emergency has been lifted.
Residents are strongly encouraged to move their vehicles off city streets before snowfall begins Saturday, March 14. Forecasts indicate wet, heavy snow that will become difficult to shovel, making it harder to move vehicles later.
Temporary parking is available at no cost in all city owned parking lots and city parks parking lots. Parking is also allowed in yards until the end of the snow emergency. The City provides the following lots to park in during the snow emergency:
1. Spring Lake Park Parking Lots
2. 231 Wheeler Avenue (Public lot behind the Circle Inn)
3. Wheeler Park Parking Lots
4. Nicollet Avenue Public Parking Lot (near Veterans Bridge)
5. 258 Belgrade Avenue (Public lot beside the American Legion)
6. 410 Range Street (Public lot behind the American Legion)
Media outlets will be notified when the snow emergency is lifted, and residents may be notified directly if they are registered for the City’s TextMyGov alert system. To register for snow emergency alerts, text NMANKATO to 91896 or visit www.northmankato.com/emergency-information.
