The City of Saint Peter is proud to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, offering a refreshed look, improved navigation, and enhanced tools to better serve residents, businesses, and visitors.

The update, completed as part of the City’s web hosting contract with Civic Plus, was guided by a deliberate effort to create a more modern, user-friendly online experience. City staff carefully reviewed the site’s structure and content to ensure information is easier to find, understand, and use.

A key component of the redesign is a revised site map that simplifies navigation and organizes content in a way that reflects how users actually search for services and information. Whether paying a utility bill, finding park information, accessing forms, or learning about City projects, visitors can now reach what they need more quickly.

“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for people to interact with their local government,” said City Administrator Todd Prafke. “This redesign focuses on accessibility, clarity, and convenience so residents and businesses can find information when they need it.”

The new website is part of a broader initiative to enhance communication and accessibility across City services. Additional improvements include:

  • An accessibility tool called AudioEye, which helps ensure the website is easier to use for everyone. AudioEye provides features such as screen reader support, keyboard navigation, and customizable display options. Visitors can click the blue accessibility icon on the website to adjust their browsing experience to meet their individual needs.
  • An Alerts & Notifications Systemdesigned to provide clear, timely communication — especially during winter weather, service disruptions, and public safety situations. Subscribers can choose how they receive notifications, including email, text message, or mobile app, and select the alert categories most relevant to them. Available notifications include public safety alerts, city service updates, citywide announcements, parks and facilities information, and community and recreation news. This system is free to sign up for and utilize by community members.

The City’s previous notification system, Nixle, is no longer in use, and residents who relied on Nixle are encouraged to sign up for the new platform to continue receiving important updates.

Together, these upgrades reflect the City’s ongoing commitment to improving digital access, transparency, and inclusive service for all members of the community.

Residents are encouraged to explore the updated website at www.saintpetermn.gov and sign up for alerts to stay informed.
