The Blue Earth County Board of Commissioners announces the upcoming retirement of County Administrator Bob Meyer and appointment of Josh Milow as the next County Administrator.

On January 20, 2026, Meyer formally announced his plan to retire after more than 37 years of service to Blue Earth County. Following that announcement, the County Board discussed options for filling the position during multiple public meetings before proceeding with the selection process.

After those discussions, the Board conducted a public interview with Josh Milow on March 17, 2026, and voted to appoint him as the next County Administrator at today’s (April 7, 2026) Board Meeting. Milow’s appointment is effective May 3, 2026.

Meyer’s retirement is effective May 1, 2026, after nearly 15 years of service in the County Administrator role.  Prior to his County Administrator appointment, he spent 23 years serving in the Blue Earth County Human Services department.

Milow currently serves as Deputy County Administrator. In that role, he assists with county operations, worked closely with department leadership, and assisted the County Board in advancing organizational priorities. Prior to becoming Deputy County Administrator, Milow served as the County’s Community Corrections Director, where he oversaw community supervision, rehabilitation, and public safety programs.

“Bob’s leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact on the organization and the community we serve,” said Commissioner Patty O’Connor, County Board Chair. “We are grateful for his years of service and wish him the very best in retirement.”

The Board also expressed confidence in Milow’s leadership and vision as he transitions into the role.

“Josh brings strong institutional knowledge and a deep commitment to public service,” stated O’Connor. “We look forward to working with him as he steps into this leadership position and continues moving the county forward effectively and efficiently.”
