Highway 93 Henderson project in final year of construction
The final year of construction on the three-year Highway 93 Henderson project is progressing well, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Work planned for 2026 before the highway can reopen to traffic includes completing the overflow bridge, finishing city utility installation and the floodwall, final grading, paving, installing signs and striping, and establishing turf.
Highway 93 has been closed since April 15, 2024, with traffic detoured to Highways 169 and 19. The project experienced a delay of several months in summer 2024 due to significant flooding. Project completion is expected by fall 2026, although the schedule may change depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.
The project includes:
- Raising Highway 93 approximately eight feet, placing it one foot above historic high-water events
- Reconstructing 3.6 miles of Highway 93 from Highway 169 to Elm Street in Henderson
- Replacing the Rush River Bridge
- Constructing an additional overflow bridge to allow for Rush River flood relief
MnDOT reminds motorists not to go around barricades or enter the construction area for safety reasons.
S.M. Hentges & Sons was awarded the project with a bid of $30,606,833.65.
