A collision at the intersection of Highway 22 and Basset Drive in Mankato sent one child to the hospital Wednesday morning. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 10:30 a.m. when a southbound Volkswagen Atlas collided with a northbound Honda Pilot that was attempting to turn left onto Basset Drive.

Authorities say most of the people involved were uninjured, but a 4-year-old passenger in the Honda sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato for treatment. The drivers, identified as 65-year-old Thomas Benjamin Yess of Mankato and 33-year-old John Anderson of Albert Lea, were not hurt. Other passengers in the Honda — a 35-year-old woman, a 17-year-old male, and a 5-year-old male — were also uninjured.

The Mankato Fire Department, Mankato Police Department, and Mayo Ambulance Service assisted at the scene. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash, and alcohol was not a factor.
