Election: Second District Race Receiving National Attention
Many millions of campaign dollars have been flowing into the Second Congressional District — the Twin Cities south suburbs plus Le Sueur County and part of Rice County — one of the most competitive races in the U-S that could factor into which party controls the U-S House. Hamline University analyst David Schultz says the contest between Democrat Angie Craig and Republican Tyler Kistner is “too close to call”:
“You (would) think Angie Craig as the incumbent would have an advantage, but it’s not a good Democratic year. It’s a district that has swung back and forth. This is really anybody’s call.”
Schultz says the biggest factor affecting the outcome will likely be turnout in the northern part of the district (Dakota County), which is Twin Cities suburban and has a larger percentage of Democrats than other areas of the Second.
