Fairfax Man Apprehended after Motorcycle Chase near Lake Crystal Wednesday Night
On 10-29-25 at approximately 9:48 pm a deputy observed a motorcycle traveling 90mph eastbound on Highway 60 west of Lake Crystal near County Road 119. The rider of the motorcycle accelerated and led the deputy on a pursuit when a traffic stop was attempted.
The pursuit reached speeds of approximately 160mph before the motorcycle rider lost control in the grassy median attempting an evasive U-turn maneuver. The motorcycle rider was taken into custody without further resistance and was identified as 23-year-old David James Ruter of rural Fairfax MN.
David Ruter was the only person on the motorcycle, and he remains in the Blue Earth County Jail on related charges including driving after suspension. Both the squad and the motorcycle sustained minor damage due to incidental contact at the end of the pursuit.
The pursuit traveled approximately 10 miles total, and no one was injured in the incident.
