Fugitive Apprehended by Mankato Police Following Domestic Incident and Burglary

A fugitive, Mahad Ahmed Mohamoud, was apprehended by Mankato Police on March 29, 2025, after a chain of events that included a domestic incident and a series of burglaries. The suspect, who had been wanted on felony-level warrants for burglary and domestic charges for over two years, was taken into custody without incident.

At 11:11 p.m. on March 29, officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of South 4th Street in Mankato following a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect, Mohamoud, had fled the scene. Law enforcement officers observed him in the area, but when they attempted to make contact, he fled again.

Officers believe Mohamoud then burglarized two additional residences in a nearby apartment building in an apparent attempt to hide and evade capture. He was eventually located inside an apartment, where he briefly held the occupant hostage. Officers made contact with Mohamoud, who was taken into custody without incident. The hostage was unharmed during the ordeal.

Mohamoud is expected to faces additional charges following his apprehension.

Mankato Police were assisted in this investigation and arrest by the North Mankato Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. The successful apprehension of Mohamoud is a result of diligent police work and effective collaboration between multiple agencies.
