Gibbon Man Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle Friday in Severance Township

On July 18^th, 2025 at 2:36 AM the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported vehicle verses pedestrian crash on 627^th Avenue (CR 2), just south of the City of Gibbon, in Severance Township.

Dino John Bastian (54) of rural Gibbon was walking south on the roadway on CR 2 approximately .25 miles north of 300^th Street, when he was struck by a 2016 Chevy Colorado driven by Timothy Jon Ahlbrecht (47) of Gibbon, which was also traveling southbound on CR 2.

Ahlbrecht’s vehicle sustained moderate frontend damage.  Bastian was found deceased at the scene upon arrival.

The crash is currently under investigation.
