GMG responds to the historic surplus for Minnesota. They say: This historic $18 billion surplus is an opportunity. It’s an opportunity to recalibrate our priorities as a state. Minnesota residents and businesses are paying more than their fair share of taxes. Minnesota ranks 6th and 2nd highest in the nation for individual and corporate tax rates. Businesses are struggling more than ever to find workers, and families throughout the state are just trying to make ends meet. Now is the time provide meaningful tax relief to Minnesotans. We encourage the legislature to work with Governor Walz in the next session to pass meaningful tax relief, but also to cautiously make strategic investments in workforce training and critical infrastructure that help grow our state’s economy.

We look forward to working with the legislature in 2023 to ensure the economic vitality of our GMG members and the regional marketplace.
