MANKATO — Governor Tim Walz was in studio earlier to discuss the flooding in Minnesota, particularly the Mankato area, where Walz is from. Walz is from Mankato’s west side and he said, to him, it was really personal viewing damage in a helicopter. He provided an overview of what he saw this week from an aerial survey taken from the sky in a Blackhawk. Walz said the state has submitted a request to the feds for a federal declaration. He also discussed how critical coordination and emergency preparedness by city, county, state and federal workers played a role in mitigating further damage. Listen to the full interview here.
