Kato Go Play Returns with Free Summer Transit for Youth

The City of Mankato is preparing for another summer of fun and accessibility as Kato Go Play returns Monday, May 11, offering free transportation for youth ages 18 and under to destinations throughout Mankato and North Mankato.

The program runs through Sept. 4 and provides door-to-door transportation to parks, schools, libraries, recreation facilities, and entertainment destinations across both communities. Riders are picked up directly from their home, transported to their destination, and may also schedule a return ride home. Service is available Monday through Friday from 6:05 a.m. to 8:35 p.m.

Kato Go Play destinations include all city parks in both communities, along with popular destinations such as Tourtellotte Pool, Blue Earth County Library, River Hills Mall, Wow! Zone and YMCA.

Fares
Rides are free for youth ages 18 and under. Fares for riders ages 19 and older are $2 for a one-way trip or $4 for a round trip. A $20 Flex Pass is also available and includes 11 rides.

Reservations
Advance reservations are required and must be made at least one day prior to service by calling 311 or (507) 387-8600 between 8 a.m. and 5:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Riders needing to cancel are asked to provide at least one hour’s notice, 24 hours’ notice is preferred.

Subscription Rides
Kato Go Play also offers subscription rides for those needing ongoing transportation throughout the summer. Subscription rides allow recurring trips to be scheduled in advance for added convenience and reliability. Riders interested in setting up subscription rides should contact 311 for assistance. All subscription rides will end Aug. 21.

Trip Portal
Riders can also request trips online through the Trip Portal. To create an account, contact 311. A valid email address is required, and approved users will receive a link to access the self-service portal.
