Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation seeks applications for Small Town Grants
- Be on the lookout Wednesday afternoon, July 23, as more than 200 antique Model T Fords pass through Eagle Lake as part of the Model T Ford Club International’s 68th Annual Tour. The tour is based in Owatonna and includes stops throughout the region. On Wednesday, the group will visit Minneopa State Park, and then stop at Jack McGowan’s Farm for lunch from 11 to 1. They will then visit Unique Classic Cars in Mankato between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. before making their way east toward Eagle Lake. While there won’t be a formal parade, the cars are expected to travel along Parkway Avenue (CSAH 17) and turn south on Agency Street (CSAH 27) as they continue their route.

Public Input Wanted as Blue Earth County Updates Hazard Mitigation Plan
- Val Imm Drive (from Warren and Highland Avenue to Ellis Avenue) will be closed while crews lay blacktop over two fixed water mains. The road is expected to reopen later in the day.
- The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the identity of a Rochester man who drowned in the Mississippi River. The body of Ronald Highet was recovered on Sunday. Witnesses say he was wading in the water with a 12-year-old girl before they were both swept away by a current. The girl was safely rescued from the river, but Highet went under the water and never surfaced.
