Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) is excited to support Minnesota State University, Mankato and its vision for a new hub for recreation, wellness, athletics, and community engagement reflected in The Future State. This state-of-the-art complex will be a tremendous community asset, bringing together athletics, education, arts and regional pride in one destination.

“The MAPS School Board is squarely focused on ensuring our students have top notch experiences and that our region wins in the race for the talent of the future. The proposed Future State project is a transformational effort in accomplishing both of those goals. Our School Board stands fully behind this campaign and is excited to partner with Minnesota State University, Mankato,” said Shannon Sinning, School Board Chair.

From the earliest stages of planning, Minnesota State Mankato invited MAPS and other community partners to be part of the conversation. For MAPS, this presents a unique opportunity for our students to learn and play at state-of-the-art athletic and educational facilities through a strengthened partnership with the University. This partnership will include working toward an agreement to use the stadium and accompanying athletic facilities for school district athletics. This vision aligns with our commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for our students and families, while also investing in the broader community.

While the stadium is still several years away, MAPS looks forward to working with Minnesota State Mankato, our School Board, and the broader school community on the details of a future partnership to ensure that it is carefully developed and meets the needs of our students, families, and staff. Agreements will need to be comprehensive, and MAPS is committed to a thoughtful process over the coming years.

“This is a bold vision for the Mankato area, and MAPS is proud to be part of it,” said Superintendent Paul Peterson. “A regional complex of this caliber has the power to strengthen not only athletics and opportunities for students, it will catalyze Greater Mankato’s status as a premier regional center. Our School District is all in on shaping this partnership together.”
