Mankato father arrested in death of infant son

Officers from the Mankato Police Department arrested Omni Maxx Morningstar, a 26-year-old Mankato resident, on April 6, 2026, for his alleged involvement in the death of his 10-month-old son, Remington Tristan Morningstar.

Omni Maxx Morningstar was taken into custody at his residence without incident. He is facing second degree manslaughter charges and is being held in the Blue Earth County Jail.

On October 1, 2025, authorities were called to a residence on James Avenue on reports of an infant who was not breathing. Despite the life-saving efforts of first responders and staff at Mayo Clinic Health System, the child was later pronounced deceased.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension assisted in the investigation.
