Mankato Man Charged for Failing to Comply with Predatory Offender Registration Requirements
A Mankato man has been charged with a felony for failing to comply with Minnesota’s predatory offender registration requirements. According to a criminal complaint filed in Blue Earth County District Court, 26-year-old Pilee Kong Gatwach is accused of not returning a mandatory verification form to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) within the required timeframe.
On June 25, 2025, officers with the Mankato Department of Public Safety conducted a traffic stop involving Gatwach and later confirmed his registration status through the Predatory Offender Registration Tracking Team (PORTT). Authorities determined that Gatwach, who is required to register due to a prior sexually based conviction, was out of compliance after failing to return a verification letter sent to his address on June 6. Under state law, registered offenders must return the signed verification form within 10 days of receipt or report in person during their birth month.
Because Gatwach failed to meet those obligations, he now faces a felony charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both. He remains in custody pending further proceedings.
