The Mankato Area Public Schools (MAPS) Board of Education will recognize exceptional graduating seniors during a special Senior Spotlight Ceremony on Monday evening (April 21st), held in the Ellerbe Room at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center.

This inaugural recognition highlights students from each high school who exemplify the district’s mission of Excellence, Equity, and Empowerment – Every Student. Every Day. The honored seniors have demonstrated academic achievement, leadership, service, and a commitment to creating inclusive, supportive school communities.

“These students represent the best of what it means to be a MAPS learner,” said Superintendent Dr. Paul Peterson. “Each one has not only excelled individually but also uplifted those around them. We are proud to celebrate their accomplishments and the positive impact they’ve made on their schools and our greater community.”

School board members will present certificates to the honorees and read spotlight nominations during the ceremony, which provides a meaningful opportunity to recognize the unique stories, strengths, and contributions of students across the district.

“The Senior Spotlights are one of the most inspiring moments of the year,” said Board Chairperson Shannon Sinning. “These students remind us of the incredible potential that exists in every classroom and the importance of nurturing that potential through relationships, opportunity, and high expectations.”

The ceremony is open to families and invited guests, and will follow the regular School Board meeting and work session.
