In Mankato, the Water Sports Industry Association (WSIA) and National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) have joined forces with the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office to promote water safety at the upcoming Blue Earth County Fair in Garden City. Scheduled for July 26th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Sheriff’s fair booth, the event aims to raise awareness about safe boating practices, featuring the distribution of free life jackets to attendees. Governor Tim Walz emphasized the importance of wearing life jackets to ensure safety while enjoying Minnesota’s lakes and rivers. Blue Earth County Sheriff Jeff Wersal expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, emphasizing the goal of educating the community on water safety and the WSIA’s Wake Responsibly program. The initiative, supported by NMMA’s summer-long life jacket giveaway program, seeks to enhance boating safety and enjoyment across the region.
