MN House Transportation Committee Passes Legal Cannabis Bill With GOP Support
At least one Republican in the Minnesota House is supporting a bill that would legalize adult cannabis use in the state. G-O-P Representative Nolan West of Blaine helped the House Transportation Committee pass Representative Zack Stephenson’s measure.
“I’ve been working with Chair Stephenson for quite some time. He’s been very open to taking input on this bill across the partisan divide. I believe he has a genuine effort to get GOP support.”
West offered an amendment that reduces the residential possession limit from five to one-and-a-half pounds of cannabis:
“I think that is a reasonable approach that you’re suggesting here. So I will commit to you publicly now that I will accept this amendment when offered in the Commerce committee and encourage a yes vote on it.”
The House Transportation committee sent it to the Commerce committee to address questions about licensing and West’s amendment. The legal cannabis bill has now passed 13 House committees.
