Around 90,000 Minnesotans are now eligible to save money on MinnesotaCare premiums for the next three years. That’s a result of the Federal Inflation Reduction Act being signed into law last month by President Biden.

“We know that rising costs are creating financial challenges and low-wage workers are disproportionately impacted by certainly by the effects of COVID-19 so it it really works to allow for the majority ending up to pay no premiums for their coverage through 2025.”

Department of Human Services Assistant Commissioner Cynthia MacDonald says MinnesotaCare covers people who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid–but not enough to purchase other health insurance. Minnesotans already in MinnesotaCare will receive the extension automatically. People not enrolled can apply for MinnesotaCare online through MNsure.
